The Contract
As part of the UK Government’s 10-point plan for a green industrial revolution, UK Power Networks (UKPN) invested £66m to upgrade their network capacity. The Green Recovery programme is designed to allow everyone access to green technologies such as electric vehicles, heat pumps and renewable energy.

LPC were contracted by UK Power Network Services to commission and project manage the installation of EV chargers into motorway services and bus garages around London and the South East. The contract value was £10m over a duration of 2 years.

The Assignment
As well as the project delivery from feasibility study through to installation, cabling and commissioning, our team were responsible for:

• survey
• route design
• street works liaison
• civil works and trenching
• cabling and commissioning
• support functions and logistics.

The Delivery

Throughout the project LPC consistently overcame construction challenges such as working around rail and motorway crossings. We also successfully navigated demanding programme requirements and understood the need for clear stakeholder consultation.

The Result
LPC delivered safe, quality construction services in highly urbanised areas, where traffic density and a proliferation of underground mains and services presented specifically high risks. Our quality of installation was carefully monitored and documented with a zero-defect ethos. The project was delivered on time and within budget to exacting standards and exceeded KPI targets.
